During their final year of primary school, most year 6 students will start thinking about the sometimes challenging transition to Key Stage 3, and the extra level of expectation that comes from being a secondary school student. To help with the leap from primary to secondary school, Little Star Writing hold 3-hour intensive Transition Workshops to introduce students to the art of annotating, drafting, planning, and essay writing. We break down the process of writing essays and reports by giving the students some simple rules to follow, introducing them to self-evaluation, teaching them using a variety of activities, games and group work, and showing them that essay writing doesn't have to be difficult or boring.

The cost of the three-hour intensive workshop (and two breaks) includes all writing equipment, worksheets for annotating, drafting and planning, practise essay questions, and copies of extracts from R.J Palacio's 'Wonder' and John Boyne's 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas'.

Venue: St Mary's University, Twickenham

Time: 9.30am-12.30pm
A map, directions and more details will be sent in an email a few days before these workshops take place.

Note: more dates will be added if the first set of dates sell out. If your child is unable to attend any of the above dates, do let us know a convenient date for you, and if we get enough interest we can add more dates.
